EventGhost Plugin

Hello,

I just purchase the TouchControl App and cannot seem to find the EventGhost plugin.

The documentation refers to having an EventGhost plugin but, doesn't point to it's location.

I'm currently using EventGhost v0.5.0-rc6 and it's not listed within the built in plugins.

I have searched the documentation and this forum to no avail.

Is the plugin no longer available or supported?

If it is available, where can I download the EventGhost Plugin?'

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello. The EventGhost plugin is located under the TouchControl Server for Windows install directory. The default location is:

\Program Files (x86)\Touch App Technologies\TouchControl Server\EventGhost Plugin

Let me know if you still can't find it.

Thanks,
Dave

Thanks Dave!

I'm solid now.

BTW,

Is there a feature request thread or process in place to request a feature?

I wanted to request adding a "swipe and hold" gesture or a setting to repeat a command after swiping in a respective direction but, not lifting your finger. Then once you lift your finger, the command stops.

I know the gesture pad already has a feature that allows commands to repeat if you swipe and then keep moving your finger in the direction of the swipe but, you can only travel so far.

However, it would be cool to be able to swipe and hold to repeat commands.

I apologize if there is a thread or process to make request that I have missed in my search.

Thanks!

There is no official feature request method, so this is fine. Gesture pads are designed to track your finger movements, so pausing while swiping on a GP should not continue to send commands, IMO. Swiping slower will send more commands over a given distance during a swipe than swiping faster, or simply repeating swipes in the same direction will obviously allow you to send more commands. If you want to be able to press and hold to continue to send commands, that is what repeating buttons were designed for, so I would maybe look into that instead of a gesture pad.

I did think of one other option you could try. If you are using the Windows server and if you are comfortable with scripting, you can use the TouchMotion feature of group buttons to create a swappable button that sends your commands as you swipe left/right or hold. If you would like to try it, I created a simple activity that you can download and import and take a look. It can be found here:

http://www.touchapptech.net/TouchContro ... eTimer.zip

After importing, you will have a SwipeTimer activity in the HowTo location. The activity has a yellow button that you can slide left or right, and the text field at the bottom logs the commands as they are executed. Just refresh your config and give it a try.

Hope this helps. Thanks.
Dave

I understand your position and opinion.

I was migrating to your app from the Yatse remote for Kodi which repeats the navigation action when you swipe and hold on the gesture pad so, I was hoping it was an option here as well.

Although Yatse isn't a universal remote, I was able to "hack" a way to get EventGhost to capture events from Yatse. Then I was able to assign to whatever action/command I desired to them (i.e Roku action, IR send, etc.) The only issue is that the Yase layout is somewhat static and doesn't allow for full layout customization like your excellent app does.
If you want to be able to press and hold to continue to send commands, that is what repeating buttons were designed for, so I would maybe look into that instead of a gesture pad.
Yes, I know there are repeating commands for buttons but, I really like being able to navigate with minimum focus on the actual iPhone/iPad screen. The Gesture pad is second to a physical navigation pad in my opinion. Screen buttons for navigation are in last place for me as it can be bit slow, cumbersome and just not as intuitive as physical buttons or the gesture pad. Also, when using screen buttons for navigation, you may have to keep looking at the screen to ensure you are hitting the correct one and this takes focus off of what you are actually controlling.
I did think of one other option you could try. If you are using the Windows server and if you are comfortable with scripting, you can use the TouchMotion feature of group buttons to create a swappable button that sends your commands as you swipe left/right or hold.
Thank you for this option! Although I am not too familiar with scripting I will take a look at this to see if it can provide a workaround for what I'm attempting to accomplish.

Again, thanks for your help! You are awesome!

I've been playing around with the SwipeTimer activity you created and it yields the repeats if I swipe left or right and then hold as desired but, it's not as accurate as a Gesture pad as the yellow button snaps back to its native location after I lift my finger. On the Gesture pad you can swipe in any direction anywhere within the defined pad dimensions to invoke an action.

However, the idea is pretty neat. Also, the activity only has left/right options and not up/down and I almost choked when I looked at the scripting to see if i could implement up/down myself :D

I'm not sure if you are an Android and Kodi user but, the Yatse remote has a Gesture pad that does everything desired and you can check it out if possible.

if you would consider an alternate gesture pad option that includes the swipe and hold feature for repeats (while still keeping the standard one) that would be awesome as your current gesture pad works great. I would just love to have the swipe and hold for repeating commands.

This would be a game changer for me because all of the apps I've attempted to use either has one feature/option and not the other. Your app pretty much has everything I desire for my setup and a Gesture pad with that feature would complete my wish list.

Again thanks for your time and consideration.
